J. Cole talks about his 'Essentials'

Like many rappers, Cole considers no less than two chains, a bottle of Hennessy, and a hookah as necessary items. In another respect though, we find noise-canceling headphones, a pen and pad (rare in an age of smartphone raps), and even more convincingly: a copy of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel is of great importance here, as it symbolizes what has made J.Cole’s music so appealing over the years: the balance between dark and light.

Rumor: J. Cole to Push "Born Sinner" album up to June 18th

According to The Hollywood ReporterDdotomen.com, J. Cole will Move up his album release date to June 18th, which is also Kanye West's rumored release date, Fabolous (Loso's Way 2: Rise To Power), Mac Miller (Watching Movies With The Sound Off). Thats alot of competition on that date no matter what you think of each artist. Kanye liable for 300,000 units light and his fans have been waiting for his solo album due to his collaborative efforts with "Watch The Throne" and "Cruel Summer". Mac Miller is a successful independent artist that can sell units. Fabolous has been in the game over a decade, and has a solid fan base. All successful, top earning artist. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top. But yet, this is still a rumour.

"The source adds that Cole moved Born Sinner's release to compete with Kanye West's next album, which is strongly rumored to be dropping on June 18, one month after he plays Saturday Night Live. Says the source: "J. has been working nonstop to put out his album a week earlier—living in the studio, bringing in full orchestras and a choir." - The Hollywood Reporter
